FREE COMMUNITY HELP DESK OFFERS PERSONAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

MORGANTON, NC (Oct. 16, 2018) – Responding to a substantial need in our community for basic personal technology assistance, VanNoppen Marketing is holding a series of free Community Help Desk sessions, open to the public, at the Burke County Public Library in Morganton.

Held on the first Saturday of every month, the VanNoppen Marketing Community Help Desk will assist people seeking fundamental help in email setup and recovery; smart phone, tablet and mobile apps guidance; password recovery and login issues; online applications; image storage and basic editing; social media usage; personal website setup, and general information.

Additionally, the team will provide a roster of local resources that offer more in-depth technical help and handy everyday tips for computer use.

The first Help Desk session is Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, from 9 AM to 1 PM. Service is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“Every day we hear people express frustrations about using their personal technology, whether it is a smart phone, a tablet, an on-line service or just logging into accounts,” said VNM Jean VanNoppen, Digital Marketing Director for VanNoppen Marketing. “We realized there is a real need for some free, fundamental technology assistance. So, in collaboration with the Burke Library we decided to offer our expertise.”

VanNoppen serves on the Burke County United Way Board of Directors and through that work saw the need and opportunity. “Having the basic technological web and Internet skills is critical to successfully navigate today’s environment,” she said. “More often than not a person needs access to the Internet and an email address to fill out Job applications.”

“We are big believers in personal community engagement,” VanNoppen said. “This is a simple way that we can use our professional expertise to assist people free of charge. The response we’ve had during early discussions about this concept have been very encouraging.”

The VanNoppen Marketing Community Help Desk is not a repair station. “Don’t expect us to fix your old laptop or broken phone,” VanNoppen said. “And if you need more in-depth assistance we will provide a list of local resources that offer additional technical help.”

TIME: Nov. 3, 2018, from 9 AM to 1 PM.
