Comet NEOWISE and Grandfather Mtn

Comet NEOWISE
1 min read

For 15 years we have had the pleasure of working on many projects with Banner Elk photographer Todd Bush. His work is extraordinary. The onsite experience is as energetic as it is creative.

A comet visiting from the most distant parts of our solar system is putting on a spectacular nighttime/early morning display. Named Comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE, it made the closet approach to Earth on July 3, 2020.

Never one to let a nocturnal photo op pass, especially one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, Bush made the most of it. In the predawn hours during several July mornings he hiked into the hills of the High County and captured NEOWISE above the mountain silhouettes.

On the morning of July 9 Bush pointed his Nikon D800E with a 85MM lens towards Grandfather Mountain and captured this once in a lifetime photo. Thanks for sharing, Todd.
